On Tuesday, June 10th, the opening day of the conference marking the fiftieth anniversary of the Greek Constitution, organized by the think tank Kyklos Ideon (Circle of Ideas) founded by Evangelos Venizelos at the Zappeion Megaron, a parallel event was held in an adjacent hall, featuring Josef Ackermann as the keynote guest. Mr. Ackermann served as Chairman of Deutsche Bank and of the Institute of International Finance (IIF)—the global association of financial institutions—during the initial phase of the Greek financial crisis ( when general manager of the IIF was Charles Dallara.)
It was only fitting that Mr. Ackermann and Mr. Venizelos met on this occasion to revisit the landmark negotiations on the 2012 restructuring of Greece’s sovereign debt, and to discuss current and pressing developments on the international stage.
